Internet-based Remote Data Backup

Description of Service
This new service backs up your valuable data files (email, documents, financial information, photos, etc.) via your high-speed internet connection to a data storage server.  Your data is backed up (securely encrypted) over the internet to Columbia Computer Consulting servers, where it's encrypted and stored on a fault-tolerant disk array.

If you have valuable or precious data on your computer and it's not backed-up, then you don't know what PANIC IS until you discover it's G-O-N-E.  I have watched people cry, beg, pray, and offer me thousands of dollars to restore their data!  I kid you not!

You may ask "What about using an external USB hard drive"?  That's fine if you have a hundred-plus gigabytes of data or more to backup (videos, mostly).  But an external USB hard drive only provides limited protection.

External USB hard drives will not protect you against:

• Weather-related loss:  Your entire computer work area would likely be adversely affected by a severe weather event, e.g. tornado or flood.  So if your computer is damaged, the external USB hard drive sitting next to it will be damaged as well.
• Fire:  The same fire that burns up your computer will burn up the external USB hard drive sitting next to it.
• Theft:  The bad guy will simply steal the external USB hard drive along with your computer.
• Viruses:  Since the external USB hard drive is connected to your computer, any virus infecting your computer will also infect your external USB hard drive.

In fact, about the only form of protection that a external USB hard drive provides is that against your computer hard drive failing on it's own.  And only then if you had remembered to perform a recent backup.  You may think "I'll just store the USB external hard drive away from my computer".  That sounds good, but nobody has the discipline to scrupulously follow through with such a regimen.

NOT SO with our automated, internet-based backup.  Our software is completely automated so it runs every day without you having to remember!  And because the data are remotely stored off-site you are completely protected against all the forms of loss enumerated in the bulleted list above.

Less than one percent of computer owners back up their data which exposes them to great risk of loss.  What on Earth would you do if your computer hard drive crashed tomorrow?  Or if your computer caught a virus that deleted all your important files?

Backup Service Rates
Columbia Computer Consulting is offering a special introductory price to help get our new service rolling!  Sign-up for one year of backup service for only $15 a month for up to 10 GB!  Prepay your first year, and your rate is only $150 for the year, which is $12.50 per month!  Or you may elect to use our month-to-month plan with no contracted length of term for $25 a month.  Any way you go, you still get the same level of service and 5 GB of backup storage space.

What's more, if your computer or hard drive does crash, requiring a complete system and data reload, CCC will provide the first hour of consulting at no charge.  This is a $50 value.

Final Comments
Again, I simply cannot overstate the importance of having a reliable and automated daily backup of your data.  Finding that you've lost valuable or precious data -- with NO backup -- impresses a feeling of panic and doom that you cannot imagine!
